Fine weather and a variety of stalls, talks and a BBQ drew over 200 to Craigend Farm, Auchenbowie on Saturday 24th for the annual Carron Valley and District Open Day.
A large marquee hosted craft, local produce, and children’s stalls. One theme was the welfare of bees through wild flower planting and honey was for sale. The history and heritage of the Valley was featured and advice available on energy conservation.
In another marquee talks were given on an archaeological investigation of an 18th century whisky distillery at Craigend followed by a site visit, the wildlife of the newly established community woodland at Carron reservoir, and the Barr Wood facility for Scouts.
There was also a demonstration of CPR and a defibrillator by Trossachs Search and Rescue.
