The Open Day this year will be held on Saturday 29th August from 12-4.00 p.m. at Craigend Farm.  (Please note the date in the January newsletter is incorrect.)

Two speakers have already been booked: Christine Bell will speak on the Communities Along The Carron Association and projects for cleaning the river, improving access and Cycling Without Age. She will also bring a trishaw which the association uses to take elderly out cycling.

The other confirmed speaker is Zach Reilly of Scottish Agricultural College who is an expert on soil.

We also hope to have a polytunnel with a children’s storyteller and children planting seeds in pots to take away.

There will as usual be a broad range of stalls for crafts, local produce etc.  If anyone would like to have a stall or knows someone who they would like to come please contact Iain Macfarlane at

There is no charge for the stall.

Thanks again to Willie and Evelyn Crawford for hosting the event.

If you can’t come, but would like trees/bushes then let us know and we will put them aside for you.

Would you be willing to work with us in a small group developing a feasibility study and business plan for a Community Meeting Room based at the Community Woodland site?

We have three group members – Dugald McAlpine and Rob Ferguson representing VRG, and Dorothy Breckenridge from the Community Council. We are looking for one or two members from the wider community.

The group reports to the VRG Board and the Community Council. We might expect to have two or three evening meetings as we work through our ideas.

Please leave your name and details and we’ll get back to you.
