Pomona Day

Apples Apples Apples

Just a quick reminder of POMONA Apple Day on Saturday 25 October. There will be an official opening of the new Community Hall at 11am, a barbecue starting at 12 noon and apple scratters and crushers to squeeze your fruit.

If like ours, your apples are ripening  early and might not keep until then, you can wash them, cut them into quarters and freeze them until the day. No need to peel or core them but do cut out any brown places. Once they defrost, they actually give more juice, as some of the fibres will have broken down.

Don’t forget to bring clean bottles to take your juice home, sterilised if you want to keep the juice longer.
